On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Smile With Shine Welfare Society was back on the streets of Hyderabad at sunrise for another edition of its weekly Roadside Breakfast Drive — the same commitment we have kept every Tuesday for over a year.
By the end of the morning, more than 200 people had received a hot, freshly cooked breakfast. Daily wage workers waiting at coolie addas. Homeless individuals resting on pavements. Roadside dwellers and anyone who came up asking for a meal. This is a short field recap of that morning.

Two hundred meals. One Tuesday. One team on the ground before sunrise, hot food packed and loaded, and every plate handed over the same way we always hand them over — one person at a time.
5:30 a.m. — The Kitchen, the Vehicle, the Road
Tuesday, July 21 began the same way every other Tuesday begins: the kitchen was lit before sunrise, food was cooked fresh in batches, packed hot, drinking water was filled, plates and spoons were loaded. By 6:30 a.m. the team vehicle was on the road, heading towards the familiar coolie adda stops and roadside gathering points we visit every week.
We have said it before — most recently in The July 14 Drive and The First Tuesday of July — but it bears repeating: the early-morning window is sacred to this work. A meal served at sunrise reaches someone who is just starting their working day. A meal served three hours later misses most of them.
The People We Served
The July 21 drive moved through the familiar spots on our Tuesday route. Among the people we served this morning:
- Daily wage workers — men and women waiting at hiring corners at sunrise, hoping to be picked up for the day’s work.
- Homeless individuals — people who had spent the night on pavements, verandas and under the metro line.
- Roadside dwellers — families and individuals living in small temporary settlements at the edges of the city.
- Elderly individuals — senior citizens on the street with no family nearby or shelter to return to.
- Anyone who walked up asking — nobody who reached the vehicle was turned away.
Every one of the 200+ plates was handed over the way it has always been at this drive — hand-to-hand, eye-to-eye, with a kind word, and with the quiet dignity that defines every Tuesday morning.
The Team on the Ground
As with every Tuesday, the drive was led personally by our senior team:

Alongside the wider volunteer team who cooked, packed, filled water, drove the vehicle, and stood at the back of it placing warm plates into waiting hands. Like every event we run, the same people who plan it on paper are the people who serve it on the ground.
The Way Each Plate Is Handed Over
This principle has been at the heart of the drive from the very beginning: we do not run a queue. We walk to the person. The team carries the food and water along the pavement, the waiting corner, the resting spot — wherever someone is. Each plate is gently placed into a person’s hand. A few words are exchanged. Eye contact is offered. The plate is received as a meal, not as a hand-out.
That principle has not changed in a year. It did not change today.
